Episode #7: Girl of the Flower (Hana no Shoujo)

In a beautiful place in another time, trees grow amidst a field of grass and flowers.  This place is colorful, peaceful, and quiet, except for the sounds of birds chirping.  Water falls from a large, ornate fountain in the middle of a lake.  A happy couple frolics in the meadow by the lake.  They are Harmona and Darcia, when they were younger.  They are very much in love, and speak of spending the rest of their lives together in Paradise.  However, the happy memory is devastated.  Black clouds gather in his memories. Darcia is informed by the violet-haired girl that Harmona has fallen ill, stricken by a strange illness caused by a curse.  Determined to find a cure, he turns to his last hope, Cheza, the Flower Maiden.

** Opening Sequence **

The four wolves are walking in a forest, continuing on their journey.  They have lost scent of the flower since they left the tunnel, and are relying solely on Kiba's instinct.  The airship of a noble flies overhead, deafening the wolves with its horrible high-pitched sounds.  Inside this airship is Darcia and Cheza.  She is outside of a tank but still needs to be immersed partially in the green water.  He tells her she was born in the castle they were heading towards; his castle.  A much larger ship is following him, carrying Cher and accompanying militia.  Using a tracking device, Cher knows Cheza is in that ship.  The others on the ship were worried about her being killed, but she assures them that she wouldn't be, since she was the one that stole Cheza from him in the first place.  They open fire upon Darcia's ship.  Down on the ground, Kiba can sense Cheza, and she apparently is reacting to his presence as well.  She stands up out of her green water footbath, and walks towards the hatch.  Before he can stop her, she dives out the back of the ship.  While he is distracted, a missile makes contact with his ship, and it goes down.  Cher looses contact with Cheza, and believes that the gunfire that destroyed his ship killed her.  Instead, Cheza floats to the ground gracefully like a maple seed.  She landed on the top of a cliff, which the wolves have to scale to reach her.

On the top of this cliff is the castle of Darcia, where Cher's ship landed to investigate.

The four wolves have reached the top of the cliff and walk through woods following her scent.  There is a break in the forest where a lake exists.  It is obvious from the surroundings that this is the same forest and lake from Darcia's memory.  In the middle of this lake sits Cheza.  Kiba, in his excitement, runs to her.  Cheza hugs him, and calls him by name.  Their interaction causes Cher's tracking device to overload.  Cheza and Kiba walk hand-in-hand, followed by the rest of the pack.  Hige informs us that Cheza was created by the nobles in a laboratory, from one of the Flowers of the Moon that used to grow around that area.  She leads them around the garden.

In the bushes lurk the military men that were sent down after Cher's alarm went off.

Cheza leads the wolves to where she was created.  She expects others to be there, but they died long ago.  She mourns for a few seconds, before the humans find their way to the wolves' location.  Cheza tries to lead the wolves to safety, but only Kiba follows.  The others take a different route.  They try to attack their attackers, but soon realize that they are vastly outnumbered.  Kiba is attacked as well, and is saved by Tsume and Hige.  Toboe follows Cheza into a crevice, where she shows them the way to safety.  Cher sees the wolves and Cheza running through the caves in an opening, and for the first time, sees the smile on Cheza's face.  Cheza leads them into a seemingly dead-end, but then is able to open up a pathway in the roots, that closes up behind them, making it look like they disappeared to the military men.
